At Expo Home Improvement, we believe a safe, dignified home is the foundation for a better future. It’s why we’re passionate about serving Texas families and why, this August, we’re honored to take that mission abroad.
From August 2–9, Expo Home will send a team of 20 employees to Siguatepeque, Honduras, to help build five homes for five deserving families. We’re serving alongside our partners at Collective Way, Cerulean Blue Coffee, and our long-time non-profit friends at Serve Hope International, who have been working hand-in-hand with these families and their communities.
Serve Hope International empowers communities in Latin America through Christ-centered discipleship, education, training, and development, transforming lives and strengthening the communities they serve. Their initiatives include a soccer academy, clean water programs, an entrepreneurial course, a Christian academy, a community café, and Impact Projects—which build homes for families in need. Expo Home Improvement will specifically support an Impact Project to help further this mission.

Being a part of this mission is a natural extension of our ongoing partnership with Serve Hope. Over the past year, Expo Home has supported clean water access by providing water filters to families in need. Now, we’re deepening that relationship by building homes, because we know a stable home changes everything.
We also had the opportunity to optimize the building process itself, using our expertise in home improvement to help streamline construction so homes can be built faster, more efficiently, and with lasting quality.
But this trip isn’t about construction, it’s about people. And we’d love for you to meet the families we’ll be serving.
Meet the Families

Sandra & Ángel Arita & Family
Sandra and Ángel live with their three children in Balibrea. Despite financial challenges, their family remains close-knit and hopeful. Sandra dreams of growing as a person to give her kids a brighter future, while Ángel works long days in a mechanic shop, hoping to one day build a home of their own. That dream is about to come true.

Lucia Alcerro Villanueva & Family
Lucia and her husband Elder face ongoing health struggles and emotional challenges, but their involvement in Serve Hope’s community workshops has helped them find new strength. The program has given them tools, support, and community. With access to food, basic necessities, and skills to improve their income, this couple is steadily rebuilding their lives. Their new home will be a place of stability and healing.

Yessenia Mendez & Family
Yessenia and her husband Alejandro work hard to support their two children, but opportunities in their isolated, rural area are limited. Through Serve Hope’s training in agriculture, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, they’ve found new ways to invest in their future. Their new home will be a space where they can focus on education, health, and long-term stability.

Elmer Villeda & Family
Elmer, a taxi driver, lives with his partner Lesly and daughter Sofia in a small, rented home. After losing his job during the pandemic, he rebuilt his life from scratch and now dreams of becoming a nurse. Known for giving back to others through clothing and food donations, Elmer has become a community leader. His new home will give his family the security they’ve worked so hard for.

Brendi Judith Bonilla Vasquez & Family
Brendi’s journey has been full of challenges. After her husband was injured in an accident, she stepped up to provide for their three-year-old son by selling tacos and finding creative ways to make ends meet. Serve Hope’s workshops have helped her grow her business and find support among neighbors. Her new home represents more than shelter; it’s a symbol of her resilience and determination.
Why This Matters
This isn’t just about building houses, it’s about restoring dignity, creating opportunity, and bringing lasting hope to families who are working hard to transform their lives.
At Expo Home Improvement, we’re proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We’ve spent years helping Texans love their homes, and now we have the privilege of doing the same for our neighbors in Honduras.
We hope you’ll follow our journey, celebrate these families with us, and see the impact that’s possible when people come together to serve.
